There’s no shame in working less.
After decades of showing up and delivering, you’ve already proven you’re not afraid of hard work.
But in this chapter of life, do you want to keep up the grind? I don’t.
If you could build your business lighter, smarter, and more sustainably, you would.
And that’s where your copy—the words on your website or Substack—can start doing more of the lifting for you.
Done right, it keeps showing up, 24/7. So you don’t have to.
Constant Visibility Is a Myth
How many times have you heard this since you’ve been writing online?
Stay consistent
Show up more
Post daily
I still hear it all the time, from well-meaning people who believe that’s all it takes. I tried it myself, and it felt like I traded a 9-5 existence for something even worse. It wasn’t sustainable.
If you’re already retired, or working toward it, I’m guessing that’s not the future you had in mind.
Building your business should be about supporting the next phase of your life, instead of consuming it.
Well, there is some good news. You don’t have to be in scramble mode all the time.
You just need your message to be clear, confident, and consistent—where it counts.
Where The Leverage Actually Comes From
You don’t have to be louder.
You need to make your current assets smarter.
Start with your three most foundational components:
🔹 Hero Post
This is the first thing website or Substack visitors see. When it’s done well, it immediately answers:
“Am I in the right place?”
It creates instant clarity and keeps your audience reading—or subscribing.
🔹 About Page
Skip the résumé rundown. A strong About page builds trust by explaining how you help your reader.
Then, show them your values and why you’re the right fit. It does early relationship-building—no Zoom call required.
🔹 Welcome Email
This is where it all comes together.
A single well-written email can greet every new subscriber, share your story, and invite a next step—while you’re doing something else entirely.
When you align these pieces, they create a calm, confident foundation that supports your business around the clock.
What Happens When You Get It Right
Here’s what changes when everything’s aligned:
You stop feeling like you have to explain yourself in every email or comment
You attract better-fit clients who already “get” what you’re about
You can rest, knowing your words are working—even when you’re not
And maybe most importantly…
Your business feels more personal.
More grounded.
More values-aligned.
More real.
You Deserve Rest and Results
You don’t have to hustle harder to build something meaningful.
You just need the right message in the right places.
Let your copy work while you rest.

I’ve got more thoughts brewing on this.
Want to keep exploring this with me? I’ll be back soon with more on what it means to slow down and show up with purpose—without losing momentum.
Until then, consider this:
“What would change if your copy carried more of the weight?”

Thanks Larry, this is great. We live in a world where there's too much noise and it can cause so much anxiety trying to connect with people in our workflow!
